Summary of the Beach Inspectors

Ton Sai Bay is one of two bays bordering the narrow centre of the dream island of Koh Phi Phi. When you come to the island by ferry you arrive at this beach and also most of the boat trips start here, which means it is rather busy at this beach. If the hustle and bustle does not disturb you, or you even enjoy it, then you will find here fantastic fish restaurants, trendy beach bars, as well as small shops along the narrow streets where you can buy useful and not so useful things. You can enjoy a nice swim in the designated areas and the best place for relaxation is the western part of the beach, the so-called Relax Beach. From here the view of the turquoise sea and of the enormous rugged rocks surrounding Ton Sai Bay is especially beautiful.

Ton Sai Bay - Busy gateway to the island with breath-taking scenery

Ton Sai Bay is one of the two beaches in the centre of Koh Phi Phi. Located here is the large pier where most holidaymakers arrive by ferry if they are coming to the island for more than one day. Also, a large number of the excursion boats and long-tail taxi boats dock here before its passengers head for the beach. Even though the bay is rather crowded with boats, you can still enjoy a relaxed swim and splashing about in the designated areas.

The sand of Ton Sai Bay is fine and white and near the shore the water shimmers in a vibrant turquoise colour. The beach is surrounded by the imposing rocks of Koh Phi Phi. The scenery here is simply beautiful. To the east of the pier, although not directly at the beach, there is a promenade where you will find large fish restaurants with terraces directly bordering the beach and in the evening some of the tables are placed on the beach for a romantic dinner. In the evenings there is live music and a fire show in one of the bars right at the east of Ton Sai Bay.

It is more relaxed to the west of the pier and this part of the beach is appropriately called Relax Beach. Here the promenade runs directly along the shore and there is more room for swimming and relaxing in the sun. You will also find here cool beach bars on the sand where you can also hire sun-loungers. You might even see some of the monkeys who live around the edges of the beach.

There are hotels, restaurants, bars and shops stretching along the entire beach of Ton Sai Bay. You can buy a large variety of items such as snacks, clothes, jewellery, everything for the beach and much more here. All in all, it is quieter at night here than at the party beach of Lo Dalam which lies opposite. At Ton Sai Bay most bars and restaurants shut around midnight, whereas on the opposite side the night life is only just beginning.
