Summary of the Beach Inspectors
Mango Bay is so far away and yet so nice. It is one of the most remote bays on Koh Tao and a trip here can quickly turn into an adventure if you are not coming here on one of the regular boats from Sairee Beach. This lovely bay has crystal clear water and a reef with many colourful fish which makes Mango Bay a snorkelers’ paradise. The tiny beach is located between massive rocks and is rather idyllic in spite of the coarse sand here.

Mango Bay - Dreamlike bay to snorkel in the north of Koh Tao

You will not find any mangos at Mango Bay and you will also not be able to see the beach immediately, as it is definitely the smallest and most remote beach on Koh Tao. It is easiest to come here by boat, as these travel regularly from Sairee Beach and also from other beaches to this little dream bay. It is much more adventurous if you try to reach Mango Bay by scooter. The way here then leads north via an off-road route and this is followed by a difficult descent via steps through the jungle. Then, once you have reached a small hotel, you will need to swim from there to this beach - quite an adventure!

On arrival you will be rewarded with a view of the whole of Mango Bay with its impressive crystal clear water, in which colourful fish can be seen swimming around. It is the lovely reef in the bay which attracts not just the fish, but also snorkelers and divers from all over the world wanting to explore the underwater world here. At lunchtime the entire bay is often full of boats.

The tiny, sandy beach is enclosed by huge rocks. Hidden among the rocks is the only hotel, which has its own restaurant, but otherwise there is nothing here. The beach is mostly quiet, as the main action here takes places underwater. All in all, this is a nice small beach with fantastic snorkelling conditions which is best explored as a day-trip.
