Koh Poda Beach - White sandy dream beach off the coast of Krabi
The small island of Koh Poda is off the coast of Krabi in the south of Thailand. Half of the island consists of rocks and the other half is wooded, flat land surrounded by a white, sandy, dream beach - welcome to Koh Poda Beach!
The best way to get here is by boat from Ao Nang. For a small fee long-tail boats can bring you usually every hour to the island and will also pick you up again. There are also island tours which have one of their stops at Koh Poda Beach.
Depending on when you arrive on Koh Poda, you will most likely be overwhelmed by the masses of boats here and the crowds of people on the beach. It is especially full at lunchtimes, but there is no need to worry, as you only need to walk a few hundred metres along the beach away from the pier to escape the masses and soon you will find parts which are nearly deserted.
Koh Poda is a real dream beach with white, soft sand and clear, turquoise water, a colour which contrasts with the dark blue of the sea further out. You also have a fantastic view of the coast of Krabi and the Railay peninsular and underwater you will find an incredible amount of colourful fish. It is definitely well worth bringing your snorkelling equipment if you are coming to Koh Poda !
If you are hungry and thirsty you will find a kiosk with a limited choice, offering water, cans of soft drinks and beer, snacks such as crisps and nuts, as well as grilled corn on the cob. Sometimes they even have meat and fish, which means that you can leave your picnic basket at home and do not need to try to catch the fish or collect the coconuts yourself !
Koh Poda is part of the national park and if you come here not as part of a travel group you will need to pay a parking fee of 400 Baht currently. If you come by taxi-boat or with a travel group then you will normally pay less, or the fee is already included in your ticket.
