Cala Mesquida - Spacious sandy bay by a nature reserve
The beach of Cala Mesquida lies in the small town of Mesquida in the north of Majorca. The wide bay is easily accessible from the town and from the car park via a set of steps. Surrounded by green hills and rocky coastline, a wide expanse of sand opens up in front of a natural dune landscape. The only development is some hotels on the side where you access the beach, but these are set high on the rocks above the beach.
A large part of the lounging area is equipped with sun umbrellas and loungers and there are also comfortable beach beds by a beach bar. However, the spacious area also offers plenty of room for those who want to sit or lie directly on the sand to spread themselves out. A kiosk on the beach provides sustenance and there's also a restaurant in the immediate vicinity. Some hotels are located within walking distance and there are more restaurants and bars in the town.
It's primarily families that come to the beach of Cala Mesquida. As a result the hotels sometimes offer activity programmes for children. This means the adults get a break from parenting duties and can relax on the beach, take a diving course in the local diving school, drive a speedboat, go kayaking or take a walk from the beach into the nearby nature reserve. There are also pedal boats for hire and you can bathe nude towards the back of the beach.
