Playa Font de Sa Cala - Beautiful sandy bay with an open aspect, situated in the east of Majorca
On the east coast of Majorca lies Font de Sa Cala beach, which takes its name from the place where it is situated. This relatively small bay is enclosed to left and right by rocks and trees. In the background is a tall hotel building, the grounds of which are connected to the beach via a small set of steps. At the back of the beach there is a beach bar, which also rents out loungers and straw beach umbrellas. In addition, there are lifeguards, showers and a water sports operator. The surface underfoot, both on the beach and in the water, consists of light-coloured sand, interspersed here and there with small, clearly visible rocks.
Playa Font de Sa Cala is very popular with families, and with good reason: there is a clear view right across the little bay, which is made even safer by the presence of attentive lifeguards. What's more, the water sports facility has its own access to the water, so the rest of the beach is reserved solely for unimpeded swimming and splashing. As far as water sports go, you can choose between kayaks, pedal boats, windsurfing and SUPs. A nearby diving school on the other side of the road can provide equipment and courses, and is licensed to take groups into the nearby nature reserve.
Although the lounging area of Font de Sa Cala beach is relatively small, there is generally enough space to spread out and relax, even in peak season. Lots of visitors come here on foot from the neighbouring hotel, where there is also a restaurant. The music and activities programme for hotel guests, which is clearly audible from the beach, can disturb the peace if you are looking for quiet surroundings. If you are not staying at the hotel, you will find a few shady parking spaces quite close to the beach. But you should arrive as early as possible, since these are much in demand, particularly in the peak season.
