Cala Murada - Relaxing bay with basic facilitiesThe bay of Cala Murada, which you can easily see right across, is located on the east coast of Majorca between the port town of Porto Colom and the tourist resort of Porto Cristo. The bay lies nestled in a rocky hill landscape and forms the end of a tongue of sea filled with clear, azure-blue waters.
Along the wide sandy beach, which is almost 50 metres long, relaxation-seekers get their money's worth. Even in peak season the beach is never really crowded. Despite the stony surface, which makes beach shoes necessary, a lot of families with children appreciate the bay because you can quickly and easily see across the whole of it.
In the summer months it's predominantly guests of the surrounding hotels who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the bay, which incidentally is also wheelchair accessible. Crossing the stone terrace of the only restaurant on the beach, which is named after the bay, you quickly come to the area where you can lie on the sand.
Cala Murada Restaurant serves a generous selection of dishes, from the typical Spanish paella to sushi.
There's something to suit all tastes here at moderate prices that are standard for the region. The staff are friendly and the owner Cris reputedly conjures up the best cocktails on the island. He and his team organise numerous events (White Party, Pirate Night, etc.) that enjoy great popularity among the guests. The restaurant also hires out VW Beetle-style pedal boats.
You can reach the somewhat larger bathing bay of Cala Domingos via a rocky footpath that runs north. From the easily accessible rock formations in the south you have an excellent view over the idyllic Cala Murada - despite the large number of buildings.
