Playa Ciudad Jardín - Broad promenade beach in a central location
Playa Ciudad Jardín can be found in the south of Majorca between Palma and the airport. Just four kilometres from the island's capital, this long sandy beach, which is bordered by a wide promenade, is ideal for exploring on foot or taking a bike ride. If you're staying in Palma, you're best off hiring a couple of bicycles and packing your swimming costume. Other than that, everything that you need for a family beach day is available here.
The light sandy beach, which isn't too crowded even in peak season, extends over a length of about half a kilometre. Along the promenade there are larger and smaller areas on which to lie. From June to October you can easily hire loungers and beach umbrellas. The water is very clean and is monitored by lifeguards. A section of the beach is wheelchair accessible. Because of its proximity to the airport you have to expect pronounced background noise, especially in peak season.
If you're looking for sports activities you can hire equipment for stand up paddle boarding, surfing or windsurfing, or even book a course, at Club de Surf la Mosca. Both beginners and the more advanced will get their money's worth here. However, the surfing conditions are only good in winter. To the back of the beach you'll find a spacious children's play area and a fitness course.
The cuisine on offer leaves nothing to be desired. In the laid-back, friendly atmosphere of the Bar & Restaurant Cala Canta you can eat your paella overlooking the sea. The charming El Bungalow is also located right on the waterfront and serves delicious fish and meat dishes as well as tapas and Fideuá, which are served by friendly, You can get sandwiches, pasta, pizza and salads at slightly cheaper prices in 'el uno' chiringuito right next to the promenade, roughly in the middle of the beach.
