Playa D'es Moli de s'Estany - Extensive sandy beach in wooded surroundings
Sparkling, turquoise-coloured water, light sand and thick pine forests give the beach of Playa D'es Moli de s'Estany in the south-east of Majorca its special look. Which really matters because in summer lots of people will be found enjoying themselves between the neatly lined up rows of straw beach umbrellas.
Playa D'es Moli de s'Estany, also known as Raconada de s'Estany and Playa Es Marques, is adjacent to and slightly north of the coastal town of Colònia de Sant Jordi. There are a couple of salt fields nearby. Apart from a hotel at the southern end, the beach is not surrounded by large buildings. Playa D'es Moli de s'Estany is around 50 kilometres from Palma, the capital of the island, and is easily reached by car. You can find parking spaces in the streets near the beach.
On the beach a water sports school has been established, which provides equipment for sailing and windsurfing, among other things, and which also offers courses. Two chiringuitos serve a range of dishes and drinks, from paella to mojitos. One of the two bars offers its clientele a large, shady outside area among trees.
Playa D'es Moli de s'Estany attracts an extremely mixed crowd - couples and singles of all ages, just as much as families. In the summer months, when guests from the hotels in Colònia de Sant Jordi come to this beach in droves, it tends to get very full here.
