Playa Camp de Mar is a popular holiday beach in south-west Majorca. Its special feature is the small island, which lies directly off the coast. This is connected by a bridge to the mainland and boasts an attractive restaurant. Several big hotels have been built close to the beach in the relatively small holiday resort. The beautiful green hills around the beach of Playa Camp de Mar are also popular with celebrities, some of whom have built or bought holiday homes here.
Playa Camp de Mar - Family-friendly sandy beach with an island restaurant
The beach of Camp de Mar is located in the resort of the same name in the south-west of Majorca. The beach of light, fine sand is approximately 180 metres long and up to 50 metres wide and is almost entirely built-up in the background with holiday apartments and hotel complexes. Despite the dense and, in places, tall buildings the feel of the beach isn't overly cramped.
There are several restaurants and a beach bar right in the middle of the sand. Large numbers of loungers and beautiful straw beach umbrellas, which are available to hire, stretch out to the left and right. The lush green hills in the background add to the lovely scenery. On the hills there are numerous villas, some quite luxurious, and between the villas there is also a golf club. Lots of celebrities have a holiday home in the area.
However, the main attraction at Playa Camp de Mar beach is the little island that lies about 40 metres off the coast and is connected to the beach by a bridge. This island is called Illeta, which is also the name of the really beautifully designed restaurant, with delicious food and reasonable prices, that can be found here. It has a wonderful view of the beach and the sea and you can also enjoy the sunset very nicely over a drink.
On the beach of Playa Camp de Mar itself there are good swimming conditions, which are really appreciated, especially by families with children. The water is very shallow and you can hire a pedal boat. It's also a good area for snorkellers and divers, however you'll need to bring your own equipment. There is a children's play area and a volleyball court. The beach has been awarded the blue flag, a sign that it is good for visitors, safe and environmentally friendly. Glass bottom boat trips depart from Playa Camp de Mar beach, as do boat trips to the island of Sa Dragonera.
