Playa de Sant Joan - Relaxed bathing bay in AlcúdiaPlaya de Sant Joan lies in the resort of Mal Pas on the Alcúdia peninsula in North Majorca. From the resort, where you can park easily, you can go down either the steps, or alternatively, a beaten track. Once here, you will find a rather narrow sandy beach, nestled between rocky banks, with lush green hills in the background.
The sandy bay is very clean. Loungers can be in short supply, mainly at weekends. There are no water sports whatsoever, so bathers have the water completely to themselves. The entry into the water is smooth - the only areas where there are rocks on the ground are to the sides. There are no showers, but a lifeguard keeps an eye on the bathers.
A small beach bar serves drinks and Majorcan cuisine and has loungers and straw beach umbrellas available for hire. However these are popular and get snapped up quickly. To get a good spot, you need to arrive early, especially at weekends.
A large proportion of regulars come to Sant Joan beach. Many of them are locals and Spaniards who have their weekend and holiday homes in the resort. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed - Sant Joan is a nice alternative to the big, bustling beaches of Alcúdia.
