Cala Barques can be found in Cala Vincenç in the north of Majorca and is one of four bays in the resort. The sandy beach, which is around 60 metres long, lies below some houses and is easy to reach from the road and from the car park via well-established steps. The bay lies embedded between rocks, well sheltered from the wind. Only occasionally does a refreshing scented breeze waft from the pine forest above.
Cala Barques means bay of boats, but there are no longer any fishing boats to be seen at this beautiful spot - just a few small motor boats in the water and pedal boats available to hire. There is a lifeguard to ensure safety. Cala Barques beach is very popular amongst holidaymakers, in particular those coming from the nearby hotels. There are plenty of straw beach umbrellas and loungers for them, although not always enough in peak season. Space for lying on the sand can get a bit tight too so it's best to come early to make sure you have enough room.
Families with children in particular come to Cala Barques, appreciating the clean water, the well-kept fine sand and the clear layout of the area. In addition some hotels offer activity programmes for children so that adults can have a few hours to themselves. Cala Barques offers good recreational facilities for the whole family.
