Summary of the Beach Inspectors

The family-friendly urban beach of Porto Cristo lies in a sheltered bay, directly adjacent to the resort's large marina. With its large, soft sandy area and an impressive rock face on the eastern side, Playa de Porto Cristo isn't just pleasing to the eye. On top of this, its central location in the resort means there are plenty of places to eat and shop in the immediate vicinity.

Playa de Porto Cristo - Harbour and hollows

The big harbour, where yachts and sailboats anchor in large numbers, and an impressive rock face shape the landscape of the urban beach of Porto Cristo. It is situated not far from the old town centre and the narrow strip of sand lies in front of a stone wall with several steps leading up to the promenade.

Although the small town of Porto Cristo in the east of Majorca is not just a holiday resort, it is dominated by tourism. It can be reached from Manacor in about fifteen minutes by car. In the surrounding streets parking is free, but hard to come by. However, there are alternatives for a fee. Numerous shops and restaurants line up along the promenade, offering a colourful mix from pizza to paella. Most of the restaurants aren't of any particularly note for their special atmosphere or fancy menus.

Playa de Porto Cristo beach has lots of visitors, especially in the summer months, and is particularly popular with families. Whilst parents relax on the loungers under the shade of the straw beach umbrellas, children can swim to an offshore pontoon with a slide. The soft sand falls away very gently on this beach into the calm waters of the bay. There are no water sports operators or boat hire centres. Apart from that this urban beach is very well equipped, with a volleyball net in the sand, lifeguards, a shower and toilets.

The promenade path continues on the east side of the beach along the rock face. There you will find some small hollows in the rock with a great view of the bay and the harbour.
