The beach of Sant Elm on the western tip of Majorca is situated in the small resort of the same name. Both holidaymakers and locals like to come here to enjoy the view of the islands that lie off the coast, the good bathing conditions and the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. There are numerous restaurants, holiday apartments and hotels within walking distance. All in all, it's considerably quieter here than in the major tourist centres of Majorca.
Playa de Sant Elm - Urban beach with views of Sa Dragonera
In the far west of Majorca you will find Playa de Sant Elm, the beach that belongs to the resort of the same name, Sant Elm. The sandy beach consists of a main bay and a smaller side bay. Between them is a wooden platform which offers an additional area for lounging. Behind the beach and throughout the resort there are numerous hotels and holiday apartments. On the road and on the beach promenade you will find lots of restaurants and shops.
In the summer months there are a large number of loungers and beach umbrellas on the light sand. There’s also a children's play area right on the sand. Apart from a pedal boat hire centre, there are no water sports on offer. The bathing conditions are good and lifeguards keep an eye on bathers from two stations. Experienced swimmers can swim out to a small island, which lies about 350 meters off the coast. Further behind, on the horizon, you can make out the "dragon island", Sa Dragonera.
You will find all age groups here and Playa de Sant Elm is not one of Majorca's party beaches. It's a bit of a quieter spot, which means that families feel at home here, especially in summer. Sant Elm is a holiday resort, but the scenery on the beach has remained largely unspoiled by large hotel complexes.
