Summary of the Beach Inspectors
The little bay of Cala Morlanda in the east of Majorca is characterised by cliffs, which create a somewhat rugged atmosphere. The beach consists of a carpet of dried seaweed that covers the rock. Young people from the neighbouring village use the cliffs as a natural diving platform, whilst others make themselves comfortable on the soft lounging area, where small hollows provide shade in some places. This natural bay is good for those who don't necessarily need sand to enjoy bathing and who want to discover somewhere off the tourist-beaten track.

Cala Morlanda - Cliff jumping with the kids from the neighbourhood

The cliffs of the small bay of Cala Morlanda are particularly popular with the young people of the neighbouring village, because you can jump from a height of five metres into the light-blue Mediterranean waters here. The entrance to the small beach's lounging area, which consists mainly of a large bed of dried seaweed, is less exciting.

Cala Morlanda forms the southern end of a small settlement in the east of Majorca. From Manacor the bay can be reached in twenty minutes by car and the tourist resort of Porto Cristo is close by. Many residents of the surrounding streets come here to cool off, whether with friends or family. By contrast, few tourists find their way to the little bay.
Three narrow sets of stone steps lead down the cliff to the narrow strip of seaweed. This is so soft that you can comfortably spread out your towel on the ground here. Little hollows in the rock even offer a few shady spots. Sun loungers and beach umbrellas are not available in Cala Morlanda, nor are there any food outlets or water sports operators. A diving school in the neighbouring resort utilises the bay for training beginner and advanced divers.

The route into the water is very stony to start with and bathing shoes are thoroughly recommended. Immediately behind the narrow stone barrier the seabed is very sandy. However the ground doesn't fall away particularly gently, so you can't walk very far out into the water.
