Summary of the Beach Inspectors

The beach of Le Morne has everything a kitesurfer or windsurfer could wish for. Wind conditions at the south-western tip of Mauritius are excellent all year round. This attracts kite-surfers from all over the world who come here to ride the waves and fly through the air.

Apart from a few street food stalls, there is not much else at this beach. If you want to hire equipment or book courses you will need to travel to the nearby village of La Gaulette. At Le Morne you can also experience a spectacular sunset which covers the beach with a golden glow.

Le Morne Public Beach - First-class kiting

The beach of Le Morne is the meeting point of the international kiting scene. The beach on the Le Morne peninsular is one of the best spots in the world for kitesurfing as well as windsurfing. The beach has the best wind conditions on the island and the setting is breath-taking, with the impressive mountain of Le Morne Barbant in the background.

Le Morne is a public beach which can be easily reached via the main road which runs past several resorts. On arrival at the car park lined with filao trees you can already spot numerous kite-surfers flying through the air. This is the ideal place for anybody who is an experienced kite-surfer or windsurfer. During the day there is an ION bus at the beach where you can talk to the surfing instructors about hiring equipment or booking courses. If you go to the beach directly you will have to bring your own equipment, as there is no possibility of hiring equipment there.

The beach is busy all year round and attracts kitesurfers and windsurfers from all over the world. The atmosphere at the beach is relaxed and you can enjoy local street food while watching the lively action on the water. In the evening you can enjoy the golden sunset, which also attracts many guests from the surrounding hotels.
