Ile aux Cerfs - The paradise islandMauritius is without doubt an idyllic island and almost every beach could be described as a dream beach. However, Ile aux Cerfs defies description. This little island is really one of the most beautiful places on Mauritius and should certainly be on your list of places to visit. So how you can you get to this dreamy beach? In Trou d'Eaue Doche you will find several places where you can pay 400-900 rupees to be taken by boat to this little island.
On arrival you will notice that this version of paradise is no longer an insider tip. This is not a problem though, as there is still plenty of room for everyone. There are many sun-loungers and parasols at the front of the island and here you will find a lot of tourists. However, you can still walk through the shallow water whilst enjoying the spectacular view of Mauritius.
Towards the back of the island is a large meadow where many local families meet up to relax over a picnic and play games, especially at the weekends. If you are looking for somewhere isolated and romantic, then you could walk for about 10 minutes to a nearly deserted, brilliant white sandy beach where you can enjoy peace and quiet and the sound of the ocean.
There is also an 18 hole golf course on the island, as well as a climbing park which stretches along the entire island, while several providers offer parasailing. Diving and snorkelling is especially enjoyable at Ile aux Cerfs, as you will see many tropical fish here.
In the Mauritian winter from May to August conditions for kitesurfing and windsurfing are also good, but you will need to bring your own equipment.
