Qantab Beach - Picturesque romantic fishing village
Tucked away in a small bay, the picturesque village of Qantab is at its most beautiful at sunset. The small village is just a few minutes east of Muscat by car and very easy to find because it is well signposted. Visitors here have the opportunity see and get to know local life because the locals are very friendly and happy to strike up a conversation. They are also happy to help if there are any problems. The houses of the village border directly onto the beach, but this is what gives the place its charm. The oriental architecture, together with the large number of fishing boats, exudes a pleasant atmosphere.
The beach is best for relaxation without extravagance. This makes it perfect for couples and solo travellers who want to enjoy a little time to themselves and explore the area on foot. Distances are quite manageable because the beach is about 500 metres long. Explorers can scramble up the rocks at the edge of the bay and even jump off. But be careful! There are no lifeguards so you jump at your own risk. Some locals even offer boat tours. These are particularly popular because they give visitors the chance to discover more beaches and even islands.
As the sun sets Qantab Beach pulses with life. This is when lots of children come running down to play and the locals meet up to chat by the water. The numerous fishermen with their fishing boats are a particular highlight. Watching them go about their handiwork adds an extra something to the atmosphere.
