Las Gaviotas - Leave your swimming gear at home / for surfers and nudists
Las Gaviotas is well signposted when heading north from Santa Cruz on the TF-121. It is a small beach situated only one bay away from the well-known beach of La Teresitas. If you prefer untouched nature to the tourism of Las Teresitas, you will find that Las Gaviotas is a better beach for you.
The curvy road leads you along the coast. The car park at Las Gaviotas can be crowded sometimes at the weekends and in summer and you should therefore make sure you arrive early to secure a space. Another reason to come early is that the sun disappears behind the mountains in the late afternoon.
The beach has been completely left to nature and there are no bars or restaurants, so that you will need to bring your own food and drink. The beach makes a calm and remote impression, mainly due to the surrounding cliffs, which give no clue that the tourist hotspot of Las Teresitas is close by. Las Gaviotas also has good surfing and body-boarding conditions when the swell is right.
The atmosphere at the beach is very relaxed, dogs are allowed and many nudists come here. A lot of people come here simply to relax, or to jog along the beach to keep fit.
