Playa de Las Teresitas - Long beach of fine sand near the capital
Playa de Las Teresitas is situated in the north of Tenerife, about 10 minutes by car from the capital Santa Cruz. It is also easy to get to the beach by bus. The one-and-a-half kilometre long beach emerges quite unexpectedly from between the green hills. There are plenty car parking spaces directly at the beach. Palm trees which have been planted between the car park and the beach give the place a special atmosphere right from the start.
Las Teresitas is the largest beach in the north and is the only one with golden coloured sand which has been especially imported from the Sahara desert and generously distributed. The beach is inviting for long walks and there is also a good range of leisure activities on offer. Here there are pedal-boats and kayaks and you can also play volleyball. Las Teresitas is especially busy at the weekends and in the summer months. Many locals like to come here, but it is also popular with some holidaymakers.
Wave breakers ensure that there are only gentle waves here. Numerous lifeguards and plenty of sun-loungers and shady spots make this beach very family friendly. Several beach bars cater for the visitors and delicious, popular snacks at the beach are puntillas with aioli and tasty sandwiches with calamari. Often at the weekends there are parties at the beach bars where you can enjoy an evening with music, cocktails and sangria.
