Summary of the Beach Inspectors
Those seeking to see a different side of Tenerife ought to travel to the north of the island. The winding roads through the Taganana Mountains are definitely well worth a visit. On this side of the island there are great waves and nice beaches with breath-taking scenery. One of them is Playa del Roque de las Bodegas and there are two more beaches further north which are also worth a visit.

Playa del Roque de las Bodegas - A dark sandy beach with good waves, at the foot of green hills

Playa del Roque de las Bodegas lies on the north coast of Tenerife. The best way to reach the beach from Santa Cruz is through the winding roads of the Taganana Mountains. The route appeals to all of your senses. The eyes are rewarded with a breath-taking view. The wind blows through your hair, providing refreshment to your skin. You can smell and almost taste the fresh air from the green mountains. When you reach the other side of the island you can already see the little village from a distance. It lies directly at the beach in a green sea of rock.

The sand is black and glistens in the sunlight. Here and there are stones on the surface, which means that it is not comfortable to lie everywhere. However you have a good view of the cliff which gave the beach its name from here. A path takes you to it, allowing you a closer look.A few fish restaurants are located on the road behind the promenade. Here you can listen to the roaring waves while eating tasty local delicacies. These are caught by the many fishermen and are still fresh when served. Playa del Roque de las Bodegas is also a fantastic surfing spot. The waves break on the cliffs here, providing fun for beginners and advanced surfers.
