Koh Tub Beach - Dreamy double-beach on a popular small island
Koh Tub Beach is on the small Tup Island off the coast of Krabi. The easiest and cheapest way to get here is by long-tail boat from Ao Nang. Most tourists, however, arrive here as part of a travel group using fast boats which usually call at several different beaches and only stop at Koh Tub Beach for about an hour. Especially in the mornings it can therefore get very busy here and although it is quieter in the afternoons, you never really get a feeling of complete solitude here.
Tup Island is very small and consists of a narrow stretch of sand which is separated by two rocky hills covered with trees. As a result of this the main part of the island is actually a double-beach and because of this Koh Tub Beach is also called Twin Sea Beach. The scenery is certainly a fantastic sight: on both sides of the light-coloured, fine sandy beach is the clear turquoise-blue sea, which is ideal for splashing about in and for snorkelling. On the one side of the beach you have a great view of the neighbouring island of Koh Poda and on the other side is the island of Koh Kai, also known as Chicken Island, which can be reached on foot at low tide. There is not much room on the small Tup Island and you will find that boats fill up a large part of the beach. However, you can always find a cosy place to spread out your towel and enjoy your day at the beach. For those who want to stay here a bit longer there is a kiosk serving snacks and drinks. Please be aware though of the monkeys, as they are especially cheeky on Koh Tup and will snatch your food and drink before you have a chance to react.
