At Playa del Faro, one of the urban beaches in Marbella, young and old will feel at home. For the little ones there is a play area in the shape of a ship where they can let off steam. Meanwhile, adults can choose either the relaxation programme - shopping on the promenade, lying under a beach umbrella or a soothing massage - or an action-packed day at the neighbouring marina. Older people can enjoy the beach easily from the water because it has fixed rails and seats.
Playa del Faro - small urban beach with plenty of amenities for young and old
Playa del Faro is one of the urban beaches of Marbella, the Andalusian city of the rich and beautiful. It is made up of two bays, which are accompanied by a palm-fringed promenade, and is only a few hundred metres long. There are some pebbles mixed in with the pale brown sand at the water's edge. The slope into the water is gentle and the sea is generally calm.
You would think that such a small urban beach would be eclipsed by its big brothers. But in actual fact, Playa del Faro offers a great deal of variety for bathers of all ages and is in no way inferior to the larger neighbouring beaches.
Children will be delighted with the play area here in particular, which is in the shape of ship, making it double the fun. Adults will be in their element here as well. If you prefer things a bit quieter you can start with a relaxed stroll along the promenade, enjoying the sea view or a spot of shopping, and then relax on one of the numerous loungers under a beach umbrella. The highlight for you will be the massage tent.
If you're into action and you've already started to yawn by this point, we encourage you to read on, because just a few steps away lies Puerto Deportivo - the marina. There you can hire jet skis or a book a ride on a sofa or banana boat, which is guaranteed to keep boredom at bay.
The range of facilities is rounded off nicely with fixed rails and seats in the water, so that people with disabilities and elderly people can enjoy the beach and the sea.
