Also known as El Castillo, the holiday resort of Caleta de Fuste was created in a very central location on the east coast of Fuerteventura. The artificially created and well sheltered beaches together with the large hotel complexes with golf courses mean that this region is very popular with families with children and also with golfers. The airport and the capital Puerto del Rosario are also not far away.
The entire town is set up to meet the needs of the tourists. Caleta de Fuste is one of the largest tourist centres in Fuerteventura, boasting many hotels and apartment complexes. However, here you will not find an old town or any historic buildings other than an old fortified tower near the harbour. Instead you have a wide choice of bars, restaurants and leisure activities. In addition to its many shops, the large Atlántico shopping centre also has a cinema, a bowling alley and an amusement arcade.
The main attractions are, however, the two beaches of Caleta de Fuste, the town beach of Playa de Caleta de Fuste and further south the hotel beach of Playa de la Guirra. Both are situated in a bay with artificial reefs for protection against high waves.
