The Nudist Beach of Metzoke Dragot
This beach directly at the expressway can be reached by a walk over stones and gravel, but this arduous descent is always well worth it. What awaits you is a beach which radiates so much serenity that you’ll want to stay here forever.
There is no right or wrong way at the Nudist Beach. Those who feel more comfortable in swimwear can keep it on without fear of causing outrage, while those prefer to be naked are equally at home here.
There are tents and pavilions on the beach belonging to nature-lovers who want to spend a bit more time here. You can also camp in the wild in the winter months, as it is always warm at the Dead Sea.
The beach has several things to offer. For example, you can go into the extremely salty water and marvel at the simply indescribable feeling of how it feels on your skin. After enjoying this floating sensation, you should cover yourselves in the mud which is full of minerals and is known worldwide for its healing effect. Let the mud soak in for a maximum of 20 minutes and moisten it regularly, since it will only work to its full effect when it is fresh and moist. After this time go back into the Dead Sea and simply wash the mud off. Then go into the natural freshwater pools, which are a further highlight of the Nudist Beach. Small pools, which ensure perfect conditions for cooling down, have formed in the reeds through freshwater sources. Your four-legged friend is also very welcome on this beach.
What should you keep in mind at the Nudist Beach?
Since this is a completely unspoilt, natural beach, you should bring your own snacks and drinks with you. Please also remember that your body needs to take on more water here. At the Dead Sea an adult needs to drink 4 litres a day. If you are walking through the dry landscape, watch out for cesspools. Always walk in groups of at least 2 and avoid climbing on mud plateaus. Even though there are rarely incidents, caution is still necessary. Never move stones or smaller rocks with your hand, as poisonous scorpions or snakes might be hiding there. They are normally harmless, but could still attack if they feel in danger. If you are stung or bitten, you should go to an Israeli hospital as soon as possible, as they are thoroughly prepared for such incidents.
