Mikhmoret Beach - A popular retreat for the people of Tel Aviv
Those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of Tel Aviv and its lively beaches will find this beach to be a wonderful retreat for relaxation. At this white, sandy beach you can also find shells which are washed up by the high tides. The atmosphere is laid-back and you will meet various types of people – from families with small children who can play untroubled in the gently sloping water, to windsurfers who appreciate the good wind conditions of the beach. All kinds of people can be seen at Mikhmoret Beach.
Water-sports as popular as ever
Water-sports are greatly promoted here thanks to the local stand-up paddle school. The school not only hires out equipment for stand-up paddling, surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, but also offers courses for differing levels of ability and various tours (mostly on SUP). As is often the case in Israel, you will therefore find a separate area on the beach for those who want to let loose on a board. You can often already spot the sails of the windsurfers from the main road.
To do and to see
Mikhmoret Beach provides you with all the essentials. Right next to the entrance you will find a beach restaurant that offers both international and typical Israeli snacks and dishes. You will also find plenty of sun-loungers here. Lifeguards ensure the safety of the swimmers and there is also a campsite at the northern end of the beach. Even further north of Mikhmoret Beach is a nature reserve where turtles come to from May to August in order to lay their eggs in the sand.
Many beachgoers stay on into the evening to enjoy the sunset from here and to round off the day with a cold drink.
