Haad Yuan Beach - Great beach for party-hungry backpackers
There are many nice beaches on Koh Phangan, but Haad Yuan Beach has its own special charm. The journey by boat from the nearby Haadrin is already very exciting and as soon as you sail into the bay and see the wonderful beach you will be stunned by its beauty. Giant, smooth rocks enclose this small bay, which is great for swimming all year round. Huge palm-trees separate the beach from an enormous jungle which stretches right up the hills.
The journey to this small, idyllic beach is not very easy and simply impossible if you are travelling by scooter. There are taxi-boats on request from nearby Haadrin, but only if the waves are not too high. Taxis also travel via an off-road path through the jungle, but these journeys have a very bad reputation on the island. Frequently travellers have to stay a bit longer in Haad Yuan because of the bad weather conditions, but you can hardly imagine a nicer place to be stranded on.
Some bungalow sites and an exclusive complex which attract mainly party-hungry backpackers and flashpackers are situated along the beach. These are handily located near to the two unbeatable open-air clubs, Garden Eden and Guys Bar, where you can twice a week enjoy partying until the early hours of the morning. Garden Eden is at the northern end of the beach among the rocks and can be reached via a cool, wooden bridge and dancing here is great fun. Guys Bar, which is located at the neighbouring beach of Haad Thien, can be reached by an adventurous walk through the jungle. From Friday to Sunday many backpackers enjoy the party-action here accompanied by the best of electronic music.
In addition there are two very highly recommended restaurants, Ocean Rock and Bamboo Huts, which serve fantastic food in very nice surroundings.Cool vibes and best beats make this nice remote beach the perfect place for young, as well as more mature backpackers, sun-lovers and party-animals.
