Cala Llombards is definitely one of the most beautiful bays in the east of Mallorca. The minimal development, the excellent water quality, the pleasant, fine white sand, the lush verdant cliff from which you can jump directly into the water, the comfortable loungers and the little beach bar, which is run with a great deal of love, make you feel completely at home here. Even when it gets busy here in summer you'll still find a space for your towel somewhere. There's nothing to stop you having an all-round successful day of bathing at Cala Llombards beach.
Cala Llombards - Lovingly managed, idyllic bay
In the east of Mallorca there are lots of calas (bays) that were created by torrents flowing into the sea. A typical feature is that the sandy area usually stretches further inland than the length of the beach's shoreline. This is true of Cala Llombards as well. The sandy beach, which is just 60 metres long with a depth of up to 116 meters offers a large area, ensuring that even in the height of summer there is still plenty of room for everyone who wants to spread out a towel here. Car parking spaces and spaces right by the water and on the loungers can be in short supply though.
Another typical feature of the bays on the east coast of Mallorca is that they are usually framed on either side by cliffs. On Cala Llombards beach these are accessible on both sides. On the right hand side you can find more spaces on which to sit or lie. They are connected by steps hewn into the stone, and ladders also lead into the water to enable easy entry and exit. The bathing conditions on Cala Llombards beach are excellent.
On the opposite side a path leads past two boathouses (the only buildings that are visible right on the beach), to the foremost edge of the bay. People like to jump from both sides into the water from a height of several metres. The tops of the rocks gleam amidst the lush greenery of the dense forestation.
On the beach itself there is a chiringuito (small beach bar), whose owner Luis claims to run the best beach in Majorca. There are fresh fish, delicious cocktails and lots of tasty snacks and drinks. Luis also hires out the beach loungers under the carefully placed beach umbrellas, which in summer are almost always fully occupied from quite early on in the day. Holidaymakers like to come to the beach of Cala Llombards, but so do many locals who have their homes in the surrounding hills. If there were more hotels within walking distance, it would doubtless be a lot more crowded on this wonderful beach.
