Summary of the Beach Inspectors
The Beach of Cala Deià is a small bay in the north-west which is rather atypical for the beaches of Majorca. The area for lying on consists entirely of stones and is not exactly comfortable, but Cala Deià is nonetheless popular with both locals and holidaymakers. The water is crystal clear and you can see lots of fish as well as enjoying delicious seafood in two restaurants. Small caves in the cliffs offer shade and a little privacy. The scenery here is wonderful and you can also take walks into the bordering conservation area.

Cala Deià - Small stony beach in a conservation area

Cala Deià is a small bay in the north-west of Majorca. It lies about three kilometres from the beautiful village of the same name, Deià, which is also worth a visit. The bay is surrounded by a rock face and the beach consists entirely of stones and rocks. The scenery of Cala Deià is very beautiful and idyllic. Although it's not easy in places to find a spot to lie down between the stones and dried seaweed, the beach has lots of visitors and is very popular. This is mainly due to the clear, clean water - you can clearly see the seabed and countless fish in the water. Snorkelling and diving are very popular here too, but you need to bring your own equipment with you because there are no schools locally.

At one end of Cala Deià you can find shady spots to lie between the rocks, which also hide you from others' view to some extent and, as a result, provide a little privacy. In places the water is deep enough to jump straight off the rocks into the sea. There are several caves in the rock face which can only be reached by swimming. At the other end of the beach there is a jetty ramp that is equally popular for lying on. You can also take wonderful walks from Cala Deià into the bordering conservation area.

There are two restaurants at Cala Deià, one of which is right on the beach. The other, more exclusive one is situated slightly higher up on the other side of the small bay and offers a beautiful view of the beach and the sea. Quite a large number of yachts anchor regularly off the picturesque bay and some of their owners come here to enjoy the excellent fish dishes. Visitors to the beach are for the most part locals, but Cala Deià is also popular amongst Germans and other holidaymakers, and in summer it can get quite crowded here.
