Playa d'en Repic - A well-equipped sandy beach in the quiet bay of Port de Sóller
The small beach of Playa d'en Repic lies right at the southern side of the bay of Port de Sóller in front of the small hotels of the holiday resort with the same name. A fast-flowing stream that empties into the sea here via a concrete channel, separates it from its big brother beach of Port de Sóller to the east. The wooded mountains of the Tramuntana mountain range tower behind the holiday resort, forming an impressive natural backdrop to the whole area.
Port de Sóller is one of the smaller holiday centres in the north-west of Majorca. The mountain range isolates the town from the rest of the island, but even so it can be reached quickly from Palma, 32 kilometres away, via a well-constructed road, a section of which is subject to a toll charge. If you'd rather avoid the charge you can use winding roads, which will make your journey a bit longer.
On the beach numerous sun loungers and beach umbrellas create an ideal environment for soaking up the sun and relaxing. The calm waters in this sheltered bay and the gently shelving access to the water make Playa d'en Repic especially attractive for families. From May to October lifeguards ensure safety on the beach. If you'd like to enjoy the backdrop of the town from out in the bay, you can hire a pedal boat.
Port de Sóller is noted for its sedate ambience and impressive setting. The hotels are situated very close to the back of the beach. In between there is a small palm promenade, with rows of restaurants and cafés. There's something for all tastes here, as the menus cover both local and international cuisine. In the summer months, when visitors from the holiday accommodation nearby will be found cooling off in the sea, there is a lot happening on this beach.
A tram connects the harbour town with the mountain village of Sóller - definitely worth a visit, by the way - and this stops close to the beach.
