Playa Punta Portals - A charming little harbour beach in the south-west of Majorca
The harbour area at Puerto Portals gives you access to a very special little bathing beach not far from Palma de Majorca. You can park either in the harbour area or just in front of it. We recommend the second option for the peak season of July and August. On this side of the bay there is a multi-storey hotel which is popular with Belgian, British and Swedish holidaymakers. You can also get onto the beach from the other, less developed side of the bay.
The 150 metre long sandy beach fits snugly into the little bay. It is cleaned on a daily basis. The way the beach shelves gently down into the water makes it particularly suitable for families and small children. Despite the nearby harbour, and the fact that a lot of boats anchor just outside the bathing area, the quality of the water is excellent. It's not just tourists who appreciate this, the locals do too, and you'll find them here, especially outside the peak season. Whether you're young or old, you'll feel at ease in the relaxed atmosphere of Punta Portals, even with its distinctive background sound.
This is likely to be coming from the small solar-powered chiringuito bar, Slow Life. In its lovingly designed, easy-going surroundings, Maria, the owner, will look after you with good music, delicious cocktails and vegetarian snacks. She also organises lounger rentals, a lifeguard to supervise the bathing area, plus stand up paddle boarding. Showers and toilets are available, too. You'll be captivated by her dedication!
