Ras Abu Zabil Beach - An underwater paradise for divers and snorkelers
Ras Abu Zabil's beach lies on the west of Masirah Island in eastern Oman. The island can be reached by ferry in 1-1.5 hours. Ras Abu Zabil Beach is worth a visit mainly because of the picturesque beach, idyllic location and fascinating underwater world. On Ras Abu Zabil Beach's fine, white stretch of sand you will find wonderful seashells and stones. Only a few fishing boats lie between the two bays that make up the beach. Otherwise it offers absolute tranquillity.
Thanks to the sheltered location in the bay the waves are very small and you won't find any strong currents here. The beach is very clean and there are no signs of human litter and only a few natural remnants. Since the beach is practically undiscovered you can find things from the sea that you have only ever marvelled at in museums before, like turtle shells or whale bones.
Ras Abu Zabil Beach is known as a very good spot for diving and snorkelling on Masirah Island and as such it is popular. Not far from the beach there is a coral reef where you can see turtles or puffer fish. You can hire snorkelling equipment from Masirah Island Resort, which is some distance away. There is no other hire centre on the whole island. As well as offering a fascinating underwater world, the beach also appeals to couples, who can enjoy time to themselves here almost the whole day.
