Nopparat Thara Beach - The more relaxed beach in Ao Nang
Nopparat Thara Beach is one of the two main beaches in Ao Nang. You can get here from Ao Nang via the coastal road by heading west from the neighbouring Ao Nang Beach by foot, moped, car or taxi. Nopparat Thara Beach is not very well signposted, but begins where the road comes back to the beach after leading away from it for a few hundred metres.
Nopparat Thara Beach is a nearly three-kilometre long sandy beach. It is bordered by a striking lush green hill in the east and a park, which is part of the conservation area, in the west. Long-tail boats arrive and depart at both ends to bring holidaymakers to the neighbouring beaches, to take them for diving excursions and round trips, as well as bringing them to Koh Phi Phi, Phuket and the other islands in the surrounding area.
As a result, it is rather loud at both ends of the beach and you can also clearly hear the noise from the nearby road. It is much quieter at the western end at the park where there are also more spaces in the shade.
You can swim undisturbed in large designated areas where the boats are not allowed. The sea is shallow at the water’s edge, which makes it ideal for children. At low tide you might need to walk for a while to get into the water for a swim and on some days you can even walk straight to one of the offshore islands.Nopparat Thara Beach is especially suitable for lengthy walks while enjoying the view of the lush greenery which surrounds the beach, as well as of the offshore islands and the coming and going of the long-tail boats. Instead of going along the beach, on the way back you can walk along the promenade where there are numerous bars, restaurants and some shops. The sunset here is best enjoyed from one of the two beach bars whilst sipping a delicious cocktail or iced coffee.
